We wanted something quick and easy that wasn't your typical chain place and that we'd never been to...I saw pizza on the sign and it sounded good so in we went. The menu was much more extensive than I'd imagined and it was tough making a decision...so I left it up to hubby! It's a place your order/wait for your number to be called/pick up your food yourself place and it took a good 10 minutes to get the pizza (which seemed longer than it was since we were hungry!) but overall isn't bad for fresh pizza. We had the Hawaiian and it was pretty tasty--not the best and not the worst--but definitely good. Since there was no waitstaff and only a pickup window, it was a bit awkward to get a to-go box--you had to go up to the window and wait for someone to see you or shout at them to get their attention. I took a quick look at their specialty beer and wine section, and it all looked nice (good presentation), but didn't seem an overly impressive selection. We'd definitely eat there again if we were local, and if I could I'd give them a strong 3.5 stars, but am rounding up due to the extensive menu and non-chain-ness of it.

Went here after a morning of Christmas shopping. The place was clean and the staff friendly. I got the turkey club on sourdough bread and a soft pretzel. The sandwich was excellent and the price was right. I would definitely recommend this place.

Wish we would have found it on our way north instead of south so we could have went twice!

Really good Mall food! Service is really slow when busy so try to come when there is no lineup.

Deli Sandwiches and Pizza in a cute fast-food type restaurant right on the outskirts of Birch Run Outlet mall. You order at the counter in back, and the food comes out of a window up front. Luckily, there was no one waiting in line when I approached the counter. There were tons of choices and I picked the New Orleans Muffaletta. To get chips and a pop brought my total up to $11 and change. I thought it was a bit expensive for a sandwich, chips and pop....but I was out looking for healthier options so what can you do? The sandwich took awhile to come out, but it was worth the wait. I don't remember what was on it, but it was large, and had fresh tasting toppings. I wanted to finish it...but was pretty full 3/4 of the way through. It's not a place that I could stop at often, but it was definitely better tasting than a few other belly busting restaurants in the area. I would stop there again next time I am in the area.

When comparing to a fast food joint, I give this place 4 stars. It's fresher and healthier than anything else in the area. I have enjoyed all of my sandwiches from here. The pizza is okay, but definitely nothing special. I'd stick to sandwiches.

I won't return, because they are glorified Expensive Subs with different breads. I'm sure they have a good quality of bread, but when two of us ate sandwiches and a drink it was 25.00 and the drinks were very small. Just not sure any quick sandwich warrants that kind of money.

We had a snotty girl wait on us the last time. We came in with a Restaurant.Com offer that she couldn't or wouldn't handle. The service has never been anything to speak of, but it has declined recently. Pizza was still decent, but the restaurant could have been cleaner.

One of the better deli places around. Their sandwiches are quite large and the toppings are abundant. They have different types of bread to choose from and all the types I have tried have been good tasting and fresh. A lot of vegetarian options as well. I have also had their pizzas, and they are great! I recommend the BBQ chicken pizza but ask for no jalapeños unless you're a seasoned professional.

I got the muffelatta which was absolutely delicious, my daughter got the 3 cheese pizza which she said was okay. A little pricey but very good. Would come here again.

Not what I expected but the food was fine. But noting exiting about the turkey bacon club. Wish I would have tired the pizza or salad instead. Good alternative to fast food.

If you're headed to Birch Run, make sure to stop in to Victor and Merek's instead of a chain for a quick snack or meal. I spent a weekend in Birch Run with my boyfriend, we ended up stopping in twice to the deli, once for dinner, and once for a early lunch. On Friday night, we stopped in for a pizza. There were several interesting options, we ended up settling on the Chicken and Pesto. You order at the counter and seat yourself. They call your ticket from the kitchen window where you pick up your own food. It didn't seem they had someone regularly cleaning the tables, but there was a supply of napkins handy so I could wipe off our table really quick when we sat down. There was a steady stream of customers that night, but our pizza was done without a long wait. I did notice that families with more pizzas or multiple items would have to pick up from the kitchen window multiple times-they didn't hold an entire order until it is complete. I don't mind this idea, the environment is super casual, and I'd rather get my food when it's hot. The pizza was hot and fresh when we brought it to the table. The dough for the crust was more dense than I prefer, but it was filling and the seasoning on top was a nice touch. The toppings were generous but in balance, very simple and tasty. We just grabbed two soft drinks, which you can refill, self-serve out in the dining area. We left Birch Run on Sunday morning, and decided to stop back in to try a sandwich and smoothies for an early lunch. We split a Cheesy Chicken Gyro and I had what I believe was called a Carrot Sunburst and my guy had the "Tom, Dick, and Berry". I definitely won with the carrot smoothie. Lots of orange and apple came across with a hint of the carrot coming through, very good pick me up. The berry smoothie was good, but not a stand out. The chicken gyro, was very good, it was a bit small for the price, but I guess it was worth it to stay away from a chain. The deli also has a side room of craft beers and wines. We browsed a bit on Sunday waiting for our food. There is a good selection of Michigan beers, individually sold, some available already chilled in a small fridge.

This was a surprising stop. Traveling vegetarians through Birch Run area, you have a place other than the standard chain restaurants? It's a plus when there is a sign on the window saying vegetarians welcome. There are several items on the menu that I believe vegetarians would be happy ordering and eating. The obvious choices of salads and pizza are there, but you have a choice of several wraps with a good selection of ingredients. Not all in the same sandwich, but you'll find ingredients such as hummus, pesto, and avocado. It was a pleasant surprise with good food.

My cheesy gyro was delicious and very unique. This place is a refreshing change from the usual fast food joints. As tasty as it was, I doubt ill return since its a tad too pricey. A small sandwich, bag of chips and fountain drink costs $12...which could buy me 2 meals at Subway.

The sandwiches were underwhelming and pricy. The bread and pickles were good but not much else. I had the steak and mushroom sandwich and meat was tasteless. It had a little too much mayo. This is one of the few times I thought the yelp community let us down.

Local resident that's been coming here for 8 years or more and always love what I get. Some of my favorites are the turkey club and chicken caesar wrap
(5)Cammie G.
Very good. Nice variety of food to choose from including for vegetarians. Fast service and polite. All around a good first experience. I do not live here but before I leave I will be eating here again. The "Jamaica me Happy" smoothie is to die for!!!!

Meh to neh. Looks cute on the outside, but I was confused once inside. They have a wine sitting area but they don't serve it and you can't drink what you buy on premise. You must take it to go. There is an area that is decorated with fake hawaiian skirt hay that has a "Fruit Smoothie" sign. However no one is working at this tropical paradise.... Then you have the area at which you order your veggie sandwich, which costs- $8. Yep- $8 for a bleh sandwich and no sides. Wait, I lied, it comes with a pickle. But if that wasn't enough you can order a T-shirt on the side. Not unlike this review Its a mish-mash of confusion .

Really enjoyed our sandwiches. Service was great. Big portions!

Thanks to Yelp for pointing us to V&M as my family were driving back to Ohio from a northern Michigan vacation. What a wonderfully delicious alternative to the common fast-food chains such as McDonald's and Wendy's. I ordered a yummy corn beef Reuben sandwich and my wife had a healthy wrap with grilled chicken, feta cheese, and dried cranberries. Both deli choices were $7.29 each and you can add $2 for a drink & a bag of chips. The kids menu offers included personal pizza, grilled cheese sandwich and PB&J sandwich. Each is $4.89 and includes a juice box & applesauce. This is a terrific deli and a superb alternative to Burger King, Taco Bells and other fast-food chains located at the Birch Run exit.

Great find! Lots of vegetarian options and organic salads. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Such a nice find in Birch Run! Love that the post Vegetarians Welcome...a lot of options on the menu. Salad was fresh, perfectly sized and served quickly. Asiago turkey sandwich...also a winner! Love their wine/beer market and tasting area. I saw several Michigan brands. Restaurant was clean, staff very helpful and friendly, service was quick.

My fiancée and I were really looking forward to trying out this deli, but unfortunately, we ended up having an incredibly negative experience. The business hours that are posted on the door of this establishment clearly state that they are open until 9 pm and since this is a sandwich shop, we figured that walking in at 8:30 was early enough to give us plenty of time to order and eat our food. Unfortunately, the staff was so eager to be out the door at 9 that they shut off the soda machine, locked the door, and turned off the lights at 8:45 while we were still trying to eat our sandwiches. It is difficult to enjoy your meal in the dark, with the staff hovering around you, giving you dirty looks. To make matters worse, when I checked out V&M's Facebook page I noticed that another customer had this exact same issue just last week. Hopefully management can clarify their hours with their staff before they lose any more customers.

i was in Birch Run for business and I asked the locals where the best place to eat was. Hands down, I was told Victor and Merek's is the place to go. When you go in, they have the menu displayed overhead, but there are smaller, laminated menus to look at, so you are not craning your head. They have basic deli items, sodas made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup, and wine. The wine racks were a bit random, but I liked the look of the place regardless. A fun environment, most people casually chatting while waiting for their food, and many people still hanging out after eating. The food is made and your order number is called out. After eating here, I made a point of stopping back in after the end of my business trip as I headed back down the mitten. As delicious the second time around. I will definitely be stopping here when I make my occasional trips to the UP, and I hope whom ever reads these reviews will take a chance on this place and not stop at your standard fast food joints.

Great variety of sandwiches and wraps. There are some great healthy alternatives to the other fast food restaurants in the area. I really liked the Mid East veggie wrap. Service was speedy, even during a busy holiday weekend.

I'll cut to the chase: Take an old Schlotsky's Deli, repaint in lucky shamrock green, add wine and beer sales (focus on local offerings), expand the deli menu in the most widely varying manner possible, add a separate ice cream and Lavazza coffee and espresso counter, expand seating indoor and out and add a faux fireplace or two, shake, and pour. Serves everyone kindly and faithfully, with all parties duly satisfied. I love Schlotsky's, and there are so few (if any) left in Michigan. But I'd just as soon come to Victor & Merek's instead. Their "Muffelatta" is a highly respectable and delicious variation on the "Original" sandwich. But the menu is so varied here, there's no way for anyone in your party to be left unsatisfied - yes, even the veggieholics! V&M is my new fave when passing through Saginaw county to places north... Highly recommended!

Gluten free options are only available in 9" individual pizzas (and don't include the Thai chicken pizza) but you can also enjoy cheesy bread. Bring on the carbs!

if i am going to birch run, i sure as hell am going to work up an appetite, and this is hands down way better than the fast-food joints around here, and a hell of a lot cheaper than uno's. i've liked every sandwich i've ever tried. they are willing to customize your sandwich or your pizza, and if you are just switching out one topping for another, they haven't been charging me extra! the pizza's are good and hot and don't take forever to cook. for whatever reason, i always thought the wine and liquor area was a bit of weird addition, but who am i to judge? maybe people need a little pick me up when they are shopping! i am always thankful that it is busy when i go in, cause i would hate for this to close!

Cleanliness...4 Food...5 Service...4 Food was Great...Will be back again!

I love taking long road trips. However the one thing I hate about taking them: the food. Same old crappy suspects each and every exit. Cracker Barrel? Applebee's? Chili's? No, thank you. We got off on the Birch Run exit on our way to Traverse City, figuring we'd have the most to choose from here. We came across this lil place back behind the strip mall, and boy am i thankful we did. GREAT creative sandwiches with awesome bread. I think i had chicken something-or-other with guacamole on sunflower wheat bread. it was tasty. i was also lucky enough to snag a slice of my wife's delicious pizza. it was really cheap, too....compared to other places like it (panera, etc.). added bonus: they serve beer and wine, too...all locally produced. they also sell it to go. i didn't imbibe since, like i said, we were driving up north, but really would've enjoyed a nice cold oberon with my sandwich otherwise. the only reason i'm giving them 4 stars instead of five is because my sandwich came out 5-10 minutes before my wife's and daughter's pizza. to be polite, i had to sit there with my food in front of me waiting for theirs to come. wish they would have just waited until all of our food was ready.

Honestly, just 'ok'. FYI, this is the kind of place where you order at a counter (where service is not especially polite) and then your "order number" is loudly announced on a speaker and you pick your food up from the kitchen window. Food is served on plastic and you eat with plastic forks. The salad was "ok", it reminded me of a salad I have gotten from Costco when I was shopping there and needed a quick bite, right down to the disposable plastic bowl it was served in and the single serve packet of dressing. No bad, but defiantly not rave worthy nor worth returning to.

Clean, new, and bright in a non-chain like way. A good selection of deli sandwiches served on fresh baked breads. Jone's sodas and other interesting drinks makes this place a good alternative to the hum drum eateries that surround The Prime Outlets.
(4)Carmen H.
After hearing what others had to say I went in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't think the food was that good. I also felt the atmosphere was very "chain restaurant" like. The fact that there were random wine bottles everywhere didn't make it any classier, it just made the atmosphere less-than-cohesive.

I'm local and I'm proud that this place is on my list of go-to lunch or quick dinner places. Don't get me wrong, they're not perfect as I am always drawn to organic foods, made from scratch foods, fair trade coffee and the finest of ingredients. But this place is a breath of fresh air parked next to an A&W and one of the only good places in the middle of a few small towns. I'll keep going just to keep them in business!

Wow, I find Jamil Alam's comments really surprising, but maybe not really... Actually they match up pretty well with what I saw at his restaurant. The fact is that two of the worst restaurants I have visited in my life happen to be in Birch Run, and they are the only restaurants I have reviewed in Birch Run. I am not a restaurant critic, I am a dad who was in town for a gymnastic meet with my daughter. If you care to determine if my review is real I would encourage you to visit my trip advisor review page: tripadvisor.com/members-… where I currently have 95 reviews, most of them 4 and 5 stars. I don't use yelp a lot, but in this case since I found the restaurant on yelp, I reviewed it on yelp. I generally only review places that I think are really good - to encourage people to visit, or really bad to discourage them from repeating my mistake. I visited this place hoping for a good meal, and I stand by my review 100%. The photos I posted are real, and still on my camera phone. The owner, Jamil Alam is obviously upset, but his attitude, insults and accusations are unforgivable. He may pour his heart and soul into this family run restaurant, but that doesn't the excuse the microwave bacon, boboli crust pizzas, and filthy bathroom. And to accuse me of posting fake photos is ridiculous, as I have nothing against his business other than having eaten a surprisingly bad meal there. I would suggest that a better approach would have been to apologize to a disappointed customer, then take a look in the (bathroom) mirror...

Pretty good chicken sandwich, needed a bit more sauce but good. The place was pretty weird, place was dead ( me and one other person) and staff was acting like the place was slammed. I would go back through the drive thou
